India instilling fear among IOK people: Gilani

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT ONLINE):The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani in Indian occupied Kashmir, has said that New Delhi is instilling fear among the Kashmiri people in a bid to break their resolve towards ongoing freedom movement.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Syed Ali Gilani was addressing a seminar organized by his party, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, at his Hyderpora residence in Srinagar to commemorate the birth anniversary of great poet and philosopher, Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He said that the recent raids by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) were used to let the Kashmiris be gripped by fear.
He said that the majority of Kashmiri leaders, including those arrested by the NIA, was languishing in jails without any fault.
The APHC Chairman said that there were at least 50 prisoners facing life sentence in various prisons of the occupied territory and India. He said, during Maharaja Hari Singh’s rule, life sentence meant that a person had to remain in prison for 14 years, but now there are people like Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, who have spent more than 23 years in prison.
He pointed out that the present puppet regime was least bothered about the prisoners’ rights and delivering justice to them.
Syed Ali Gilani slammed the India-appointed interlocutor on Kashmir, Dineshwar Sharma, for his remarks that the Kashmiri youth are “wasting time for Azadi and Islam”. “These remarks are absurd,” he said.
The APHC Chairman said that in 1947, the then princely state of Jammu and Kashmir was a natural part of Pakistan on the basis of rules of the Partition Plan. “Our state had 85 percent Muslim population. Our relation with Pakistan was closer than other states in terms of religion and geography,” he said.
Syed Ali Gilani said that in Jammu, five lac Muslims were brutally massacred in 1947. “Those at the helm at that time remained silent. It was the first act of forces who had had landed in our state.” “Even today, the repercussions of the Jammu massacre are visible, with forces talking about turning Jammu and Kashmir into a “Hindu Rashtra” and our historic Jamia Masjid being closed for weeks together,” he added.
Paying tributes to Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the APHC Chairman said that as a poet and philosopher, Allama Iqbal awakened the Muslim Ummah. “He was a caring, benevolent and compassionate philosopher who made us understand and distinguish between the right and wrong,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, said that the people of Kashmir had accepted greater unity among the resistance leadership and see it as a big hope. “All efforts are afoot to make the Kashmiri leadership surrender. NIA arrested and summoned relatives of Syed Ali Gilani, uncles of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq; even my friends and relatives were sent notices. I also received a notice from the Enforcement Directorate,” he said.
“These are all ploys to make us surrender. But we want to make it clear that come what may, we will not surrender,” he said and asked the people to remain united and follow the Joint Resistance Leadership.
Paying homage to Allama Iqbal, he said, “Iqbal was a Muslim philosopher-thinker of modern times and through his literary work he inspired a universal thought among the Muslim Ummah,” he said.
Tehreek-e-Hurriyat General Secretary, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, in his address said that the existence of Kashmir was eternal with the existence of Pakistan.
He asserted that the two-nation theory is a reality and nobody should question it. “Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had envisaged the existence of Pakistan that turned into a reality after strenuous efforts of one of the tallest leaders of the world,” he said.
Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai said that those who ditched Quaid-e-Azam in 1947 were suffering to this date. “The Muslims of India ditched Quaid-e-Azam and termed the ‘Idea of Pakistan’ as vague. Today, when the Muslims of India are being subjected to proving their loyalty to their country, Quaid-e-Azam’s visionary leadership as ever is proving right,” he added.
The seminar was attended by scholars, religious clerics and Hurriyat leaders including Muhammad Shafi Lone, Maulana Altaf Hussain Nadvi, Muhammad Saleem Zargar, Syed Muhammad Shafi, Hakeem Abdur Rasheed, Molvi Bashir Ahmed Irfani, Muhammad Yusuf Naqash, Feroz Ahmed Khan, Syed Altaf Andrabi and Davinder Singh Behal.
