Kashmiris urged to step up movement during UN session

ISLAMABAD, (APP): llegally detained Chairman of Jammu
and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabbir Ahmad Shah has
reiterated his appeal to the world leadership to press for
honorable solution to grave situation in Kashmir during the 71st
UN General Assembly session.
According to Kashmir Media Service, he urged the Kashmiri
people across world to organise rallies and seminars to highlight
the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir.
Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a statement issued in Srinagar said
that Kashmiris had pinned great hopes on Prime Minister Nawaz
Sharif that he would aware the world about the bloodbath carried
out by India in the occupied territory and persuade the world
community to take immediate steps in this regard.
He said with the beginning of the speeches of Indian
representatives on September 22, the well-wishers of Kashmiris
should register strong protests outside the UN to aware the world
about the grave human rights violations committed by India in
occupied Kashmir for last 70 years particularly during the last
more than 70 days wherein innocent civilians were killed, maimed
and blinded by the use of lethal pellet guns and more than 12000
injured.
“We must also remind the UN to fulfill its promise of
conducting a referendum in the disputed territory. Also, the OIC
must move beyond passing of resolutions and pressurize India and
world community to resolve the Kashmir,” he said.
Appealing people not to lose hope, Shabbir Ahmad Shah said,
“Our cries are being heard across the globe and the need of the
hour is to remain steadfast and continue protests. We are well
aware of the sacrifices rendered by every section of society. Now,
during the ongoing UN session, we must infuse a new spirit in the
freedom movement. History is witness that only those nations
achieve success who exhibit consistency and steadfastness in their
struggles,” Shabbir Shah maintained.
