m10 more dialysis machines given to Govt. Shahdra Hospital

LAHORE, Feb 20 (millat): The Punjab government in order
to provide best health care to the people, was providing
latest treatment and diagnostic facilities in hospitals
besides constructing new ones in different districts
to reduce workload on the tertiary care hospitals of Lahore.
This was stated by Health Minister for Specialised Healthcare
and Medical Education Kh. Salman Rafique while inaugurating 10
new dialysis machines in the dialysis unit of Government Shahdra
Hospital here on Monday.
He said during the last three years bed capacity had been increased and
a large number of beds had been included in the hospitals.
Kh. Salman Rafique further said Government Shahdra
Teaching Hospital would be made a model hospital by providing
latest facilities and equipment to ensure provision of quality
healthcare to the public at local level.
Punjab Minister for Primary & Secondary Health Kh. Imran Nazir
also accompanied him. Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical
University Prof. Dr. Fakhar Imam, Malik Riaz MNA, MS Govt.
Shahdra Hospital Dr. Pervaiz Imtiaz, President Patients Welfare
Society Malik Tariq and a large number of Muslim League-N workers
and the hospital staff were also present.
MS Dr. Pervaiz Imtiaz informed the ministers that due to the
provision of latest diagnostic and treatment facilities the
turnover of patients had increased manifold. He informed that
latest surgical and medical facilities were being provided in
the hospital and specialist doctors had been posted in the
Government Shahdra Hospital.
He said dialysis unit had specialists of urology and
nephrology. He elaborated that previously 14 dialysis machines
were installed in the unit while another 10 dialysis machines
had been included in the dialysis unit with the help of
philanthropists through Patients Welfare Society.
Kh. Imran Nazir, addressing the ceremony said efforts
were being made to provide best health care facilities in the
Government Shahdra Teaching Hospital. He said day by day
the hospital would further upgraded and more specialties would
be introduced in the hospital.
Malik Riaz MNA said Government Shahdra Teaching Hospital
was a precious gift from Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and
Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to the poor people of
Shahdra and its adjoining areas. He disclosed that a large number of patients from Narowal, Muridke, Gujranwala, Shakargarh and other
adjoining areas also getting benefit from that hospital.
Kh. Salman Rafique said that government had established half a
dozen tehsil level hospitals in Lahore and upgradation of tertiary hospitals had also been carried out. Moreover, bed capacity of the hospitals had also been enhanced.
He disclosed that new hospitals of 500 beds were under
construction in Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sahiwal and Dera
Ghazi Khan which would be completed in a year through which
2000 beds would be included in the system. He said that a 500
beds hospital cost Rs.4 to 5 billion.
Kh. Salman Rafique said that government was moving forward
with a strategy to establish hospitals in other cities for
providing treatment facilities to the people at local level.
The Minister disclosed that government was also going in an
understanding with the hospitals attached to the private
medical colleges for resolving the non-availability of beds.
Vice Chancellor FJMU Prof. Fakhar Imam, President Patients
Welfare Society also addressed the occasion and appreciated
the cooperation of philanthropists for providing dialysis
machines to the hospital.
