Masarrat sent to Srinagar Central Jail on judicial remand

ISLAMABAD, (APP): The authorities have sent the illegally detained senior Hurriyet leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (JKML), Masarrat Aalam Butt, to Srinagar Central Jail on judicial remand.
According to KMS, the Court of 3rd Additional Sessions Judge, Srinagar, sent Masarrat Aalam Butt to fifteen days judicial custody in Central Jail after he was produced before it in connection with a case registered against him in Rajbagh Police Station in 2006.
The court after recording the statement of a witness sent the detained leader to the Central Jail.
He will be again produced before the court on June 17 (Friday) in another case registered against him at Shaheed Ganj Police Station in Srinagar.
Earlier, he was lodged at Baramulla jail before being shifted to Shaheed Ganj Police Station.
It is to mention here that the successive puppet regimes in the territory have booked Masarrat Aalam Butt in 49 cases since 1990 and 32 times under the black law, Public Safety Act (PSA). In most of these cases he has been acquitted or granted bail by the courts.
The JKML Chairman was detained under the draconian PSA for the first time on October 2, 1990.
