Mayor chairs meeting of law department
KARACHI, (MILLAT ONLINE):Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar while chairing a meeting on the issues of law department in his office here stressed the need of taking pending cases in courts seriously by the lawyers.

Aslam Shah Afridi, members of the legal committee, law advisor Saeed
Akhtar, penal advocates and prosecutors of law department, director
technical S.M Shukaib, director finance Mehmood Baig and other
officers attended the meeting, said a statement on Tuesday.
He said the department has to play effective role in the disposal
of all such cases in the favor of KMC so that illegal activities like
encroachments, land grabbing and food adulteration and sale of impure
food items could be stopped in the city.
The Mayor taking strict notice of the non appearance of KMC
lawyers in the courts on the date of hearing said no such practice
will be tolerated any further and the officer will be removed in this
case.
He enquired about the cases handed over to penal of advocates and
prosecutors on behalf of KMC and directed that all updates regarding
pending cases should be regularly sent to the legal committee so that
it could decide on these cases.
He said no one will be paid remuneration without attending to his
duties and all such officials should be removed immediately.
He said the suggestions and recommendations of legal committee of
the city council will be implemented for the betterment of the
department.
Chairman of the legal committee Arif Khan Advocate said members
of the committee worked hard for shifting of law department in its new
premises and now its affairs being monitored in the light of rules and
regulation and policy to bring further improvement in its performance.
