Medium to high flood likely in rivers Ravi, Chenab

ISLAMABAD, (APP): The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has said
medium to high flood is expected in Nullahs of River Ravi & Chenab and low to medium flood in Hill Torrents of D.G. Khan Division during next 24 hours.
According to daily FFC report, Indus is flowing in Low Flood
at Taunsa Barrage while all other main rivers including Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi & Sutlej are flowing normal.
The river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela & Mangla reservoirs are at elevations of 1521.40 feet and 1234.30 feet respectively, which are 28.60 feet & 7.70 feet below their respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1550.00 feet and 1242.00 feet.
The combined live storage capacity of Tarbela, Chashma &
Mangla reservoirs is 11.809 MAF as compared to last year’s 13.253
MAF.
According to Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, yesterday’s
trough of Westerly Wave over Kashmir and adjoining areas has moved
away Eastwards.
Seasonal Low still persists over Northern Balochistan.
Moderate moist current is penetrating into upper parts of the
country upto 5000 feet.Yesterday’s Monsoon Low over North Bay of
Bengal remained stationary.
As predicted by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore,
scattered thunderstorm/rain with isolated heavy falls is expected
over the upper catchments of all major rivers including Punjab
(Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore & Bahawalpur Divisions),
besides, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Peshawar, Kohat & D.I. Khan Divisions)
and Northeastern Balochistan during the next 24 hours.
Scattered thunderstorm/rain with isolated heavy falls is expected over the upper catchments of all major rivers including Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Peshawar, Kohat & D.I. Khan Divisions) and Northeastern Balochistan during the next 48 hours.
All concerned authorities are advised to remain ALERT, watch the situation closely and take all necessary precautionary measures in order to avoid loss of human lives and damage to private and public property.

Division, Lahore during the past 24 hours, include; Sialkot (Cantt = 92 mm & Airport = 37 mm), Ura =74 mm, Islamabad (Bokra = 66 mm & Airport = 19 mm), Mandibahauddin = 54 mm, Jhelum = 47 mm, Tanda Dam
= 46 mm, Kohat = 45 mm, Gujrat = 38 mm, Daratian & Kamra = 37 mm
each, Mangla = 30 mm, Kallar = 29 mm, Ghariala = 26 mm, Palandri = 25 mm, Marala = 22 mm, Palote = 20 mm, Dhok Pathan = 19 mm, Kund = 18 mm, Sahiwal = 17 mm, Kotli = 16 mm, Shinkiari = 13 mm and Risalpur = 10 mm.
