Muslim Conference cadres disown Prof Butt’s meeting with Sharma

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT ONLINE):The cadres of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference in occupied Kashmir have distanced themselves from the recent meeting of party’s President, Professor Abdul Ghani Butt with the India-appointed interlocutor, Dineshwar Sharma.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the party members of district Badgam held an emergency meeting chaired by district president Meraaj-ud-Din Soleh at Charar-e-Sharif and expressed dissent over the meeting between Professor Abdul Ghani Butt and Dineshwar Sharma.
The district president on the occasion denounced the move and announced to approach the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, to seek explanation from Professor Butt. The participants said that they had also informed Manzoor-ul-Haq Butt, the party’s Vice President and senior member, about Professor Butt’s move and he had also condemned it.
The meeting was attended by senior members including Nazir Mohammad Lone, Hilal Ahmed Parra, Muhammad Sultan Magrey and Bashir Ahmed Butt.
Meanwhile, the Vice President of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, Manzoor-ul-Haq Butt, in a statement issued in Islamabad strongly reacted over Professor Butt’s act of meeting with Dineshwar Sharma. He said that Professor Butt by meeting the so-called interlocutor not only hurt the sentiments of sincere workers and office-bearers of Muslim Conference but had also acted against the collective cause of the Kashmiri people.

He said that the entire Hurriyat leadership had taken a unanimous decision of boycotting Dineshwar Sharma as it was futile to meet him under the mandate he was given to hold talks and the exercise was nothing more than a waste of time and a cruel joke.

Manzoor-ul-Haq Butt maintained that being an office-bearer of the Muslim Conference, he distances himself from the action of Professor Abdul Ghani Butt who should have consulted his party members before any such move.
