Nisar vows to stand with Nawaz Sharif through thick and thin

ISLAMABAD, July 27 (APP): Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar
Ali Khan Thursday said he would remain steadfast with Prime Minister
Muhammad Nawaz Sharif whatever verdict the Supreme Court announced
in the Panama Papers case.

Addressing a press conference here, he said last evening he had
decided to leave politics, resign from the National Assembly and his ministerial post on the day the Supreme Court announced its verdict in
the Panama Papers case.
“I had decided I will leave politics and the National Assembly
membership after the SC decision, whether in favour or against
Nawaz Sharif, and not to contest the next election.”
He, however, changed the decision after holding meetings with
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and cabinet colleagues, including
Ishaq Dar, Saad Rafique and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, and many other
friends, he added.

He categorically denied that he was aspiring for the prime
minister’s office.
Nisar said his biggest privilege was that he was a member of the
National Assembly and represented 500,000 people of his constituency.
“I am proud of my electorate and constituency,” he said, adding
that he was now fed up as politics had become ‘a joke and a
pack of lies’.

“Mr Prime Minister, you are the luckiest person in Pakistan,” he said. “If you are disqualified, do not become angry,” he adds.

Mian Sahab, accept the decision of the Supreme Court humbly,” he says.

Nisar says that he will never contest any election again.

“I am not the candidate for any position,” he says. “I am not part of this game now.”

Nisar claims that he will resign from the party as well as the ministry whether the decision comes in favour of the prime minister or against him.

“Will resign from the party and the ministry the day Supreme Court announces the Panama Leaks decision,” he says.

Nisar says that he had excellent relations with General Pasha but when the general became apolitical, Nisar threatened to go to the Supreme Court if Gen. Pasha was given an extension.

“General Beg gave a statement regarding the Gulf War to which I gave a very strong response,” he says.

Nisar claims that he is proud of the fact that his relatives have been associated with Pakistan Army.

Nisar states that ‘some people’ were watching the whole situation and were hoping that one seat becomes vacant for them to occupy.

“It was my intention to talk about Dawn Leaks after the cabinet meeting,” he says.

About three months ago, I met Nawaz Sharif. The prime minister said that he liked my habit of telling him the truth always.

“Always told Nawaz Sharif the truth. Praising someone always does not amount to loyalty,” he says.

Nisar states that he has always brought bad news to the premier and played the devil’s advocate.

“Throughout my life, I have always told the truth to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif,” he said.

Nisar says that even his opponents had always claimed in the past that he would never leave the party despite his reservations.

“Some have left the prime minister while others have left this world,” he adds.

Nisar states that he loves the party that he has been associated with for the past 33 years.

“Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif made this party with his own blood, sweat and tears,” he said.

“I am not part of a lone train, I have been facing conspiracies from within,” he says.

Since the past 33 years, I have been part of every important meeting: Nisar

Chaudhry Nisaar states that contrary to media reports, he is not angry with the party leadership.

Nisaar claims that he did not inform anyone regarding the press conference today. He stated that Shehbaz Sharif complained to him that here they were sitting and he had just announced a press conference.

This is the most difficult press conference of my life: Nisar

Chaudhry Nisaar arrives and takes his place at the rostrum.
