ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT/APP): Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Monday
said Pakistan Bodybuilding Federation (PBF) headed by Sheikh Farooq
Iqbal is solely responsible for organizing and holding of
bodybuilding championships in the country.
PSB in a letter to Farooq Iqbal mentioned that PBF headed by
Sheikh Farooq is an affiliated body of PSB and the federation is
responsible to organize and control the bodybuilding championships
and competitions from district to national level.
The letter stated that all clubs and associations from the
district to provincial level are required to conduct their
competitions with the approval of the PBF.
These measures will not only facilitate the district to
national level coordination but also will help for control on use of
the steroids by the athletes.
The PBF may circulate and ensure implementation of the above
instructions down to club level to save the lives of athletes from
intoxication.
Talking to APP, President PBF Sheikh Farooq Iqbal claimed
that Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) is trying to establish a
parallel body against us.
Therefore this letter was necessary for the running of Bodybuilding affairs in the country.
He said we have barred all contests and championships until
dope tests are conducted.
“We will be inviting World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to
conduct dope tests and if any bodybuilder’s dope test comes positive
then he will be banned,” he said.
