ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT/APP): Minister for Inter Provincial
Coordination Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada on Tuesday contradicted a
news item, aired by a private news channel about awarding status
of province to Gilgit-Baltistan.
Referring to the details, the minister said while on his way
out of the Parliament, he was approached by a reporter of the news
channel and asked whether the GB was being given status of a
province. In response he said the subject was not in his purview
and the reporter could contact the appropriate person.
“I told him, yes I am a member of the committee chaired by
Sartaj Aziz but I cannot say any word on the subject as it is
prerogative of the chair to speak on the issue. Therefore, I urged
him (the reporter) to contact the appropriate person,” he added.
