PMD predicts onset of Monsoon from coming week with widespread rain

ISLAMABAD, (APP): Pakistan Meteorological Department
(PMD) on Friday indicated chances of widespread rain over upper
parts of the country during the coming week, with onset of Monsoon
season.
Spokesman of PMD said,”The onset of monsoon is very likely in
Pakistan during coming week, most probably on Monday or Tuesday over
upper parts of the country”.
Monsoon rains are likely to start from upper parts of the
country that will spread towards central and southern parts of the
country during the week.
During first spell of monsoon, widespread rains with isolated
heavy thundershowers accompanied by strong gusty winds are expected
in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA and Kashmir.
While scattered rains and dust-thundershowers are also
expected in Sindh and Balochistan during the coming week.
The met office has advised the concerned authorities to remain
alert during the coming week due to the high probability of isolated
heavy downpours which may generate flash flooding in hilly terrain
and urban flooding in big cities.
For the next 24 hours, the met office said, hot and dry
weather would prevail in most parts of the country.
However, light rain-thunderstorm may occur at few places in
Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan,
Bahawalpur divisions during evening.
According to the synoptic situation, low pressure was lying
over north Balochistan and its adjoining areas.
Weak moist currents from Arabian sea were penetrating
northeastern parts of Balochistan and its adjoining areas.
The highest maximum temperatures recorded during the last 24
hours were Turbat and Dadu 45 C, Sibbi, Jacobabad, Bhakkar, Rahim
Yar Khan and Rohri 43 C.
