The National Calligraphy Competition and Exhibition, arranged by National
History and Literary Heritage Division (NH&LH), attracted hundreds of art lovers,

attended live calligraphy workshops to learn the intricacies of this ancient art.
The competition and exhibition kicked off at a local hotel on February 23

Out of 90 shortlisted art works, the final jury, comprising over senior

modern style calligraphy who will be awarded in the ceremony.
Three different committees of judges have selected the best art works
through adopting a transparent procedure.

Siddiqui revealed that consolation prizes will also be given to the special
persons and women belonging to the far-flung areas who are contributing
in this field.
He said participation of such a huge number of calligraphers from remote
areas of the country in the competition reflect their enthusiasm and love for
this ancient art.
He said NH&LH Division, since its establishment, has taken several
measures to revive the neglected art of calligraphy which include arrangement
of a national and an international calligraphy exhibition last year, establishing
first-ever Calligraphy Institute and compilation of Directory of Calligraphers.
