President urges ambassador to encourage Dutch businessmen to invest in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD ( APP) : President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday
urged upon the ambassador-designate of Pakistan to Netherlands to
encourage foreign investment in the country by informing them about
the conducive environment in the country.
The President while talking to Pakistan’s ambassador-designate
to Netherlands Ms. Iffat Imran Gardezi here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr,
asked the ambassador to also highlight Pakistan’s improved law and
order situation after operation Zarb-e-Azb.
Felicitating Iffat Imran Gardezi on her appointment as envoy
to Netehrlands, the President expressed confidence that she would
contribute towards further improvement of overall bilateral ties
between the two countries.
The President said Pakistan greatly valued its relations with
Netherlands, both bilaterally and within the context of the European
Union.
The President urged upn Ambassador-designate Iffat Imran to
highlight economic potential of Pakistan and project it as a
business friendly country in the Netherlands.
The President noted with appreciation that many Dutch
companies, including Shell, Philips, Unilever, Akzo-Nobel and Macro
were operating in Pakistan.
“Efforts need to be made to convince more Dutch companies to
benefit from Pakistan’s investment friendly policies”, the President
said.
The President said Pakistan would particularly like to benefit
from the Dutch expertise in agro-based industry and seek support in
capacity building in the fields of energy, water management,
agriculture and infrastructure development.
The President asked the ambassador-designate to create
institutional linkages to promote better understanding and
cooperation between business communities of the two countries.
President Mamnoon Hussain expressed confidence that
ambassador-designate would endeavour to further enhance
collaboration in the fields of education and culture between the two
countries.
The President called upon Ambassador Iffat to look after the
interests and welfare of the Pakistani community living in
Netherlands and utilize their services in further strengthening
bilateral relations with Netherlands.
The President wished the ambassador-designate success in
discharge of her new responsibilities.
