Project under consideration to fetch water from Indus River to Capital: NA told

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT ONLINE):State Minister for Interior Muhammad Talal Chaudhary on Friday informed the National Assembly that a project was under consideration to fetch water from Indus River to twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad in order to meet future water demand.
Responding to various question during Question Hour, he said that the project has been included in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and feasibility of the project was in final stages.
He further said that defective tube wells installations were being repaired for smooth supply of potable water to the resident of Capital and to control the water shortage.
The minister said that leakages of main water supply lines as well as distribution network were also being repaired.
Responding to another question, he said at present, Islamabad Fire Brigade has no helicopter to extinguish fire. However, in case of wildfire and any other emergency, the ministry requested GHQ through NDMA for provision of helicopters.
He said that as many as 34 fire extinguishing vehicles were available with Fire Brigade besides 4 specialized stair vehicles (2 x 68 meter and 2 x 29 meter).
To another query, he said that after safe city programme, rate of crimes in the federal capital had been decreased. However, he said that government was determined to further improve the law and order situation in the city.
To a separate question, the minister said about 209 dairy shops including 12 tank (milk in browsers) suppliers were checked and 32 complaints were submitted in the Court of Law against the owner till date.
FIRs were also lodged against 6 owners of milk in browsers and were behind the bar.

The minister said at present, 86 Masajids were under the control of Auqaf Directorate ICT.
