Provinces to be facilitated on counter-terrorism with intelligence-sharing: PM

ISLAMABAD, (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif
on Monday said the federal government would facilitate the
provincial governments on counter-terrorism by effective
coordination and intelligence-sharing through federal agencies.
The Prime Minister expressed these views while chairing a
meeting to review the state of internal security and implementation
of National Action Plan (NAP) here at the PM House.
The meeting attended by Finance Minister Finance Ishaq Dar,
Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan, National Security Advisor Lt
Gen (r) Nasser Khan Janjua, Director General Inter Services
Intelligence Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar and Director General Intelligence
Bureau Aftab Sultan discussed security situation and different
aspects of the NAP.
The Prime Minister said the gains of NAP and Operation Zarb-e-
Azb and the progress achieved so far would be consolidated through
coordination at federal and provincial levels with the backing of
national resolve.
He said the country had embarked upon a right track and every
citizen would reap the benefits of a secure, stable and prosperous
Pakistan.
“We will make Pakistan secure for every ethnicity and
religion,” he emphasized.
The Prime Minister lauded the performance of law enforcement
agencies in maintaining peace and security in the country.
He said elements of terrorism and extremism were receding from
the country due to countless sacrifices rendered by the country’s
valiant law enforcement agencies, unflinching resolve of the entire
nation and efforts of the federal and provincial governments.
The Prime Minister said extremists’ ideology was a global
threat and added that Pakistan being the frontline state in war on
terror, had suffered reaction of terrorists for several years.
“No other country has suffered to the extent Pakistan has been
affected socially and economically while fighting the scourge of
terrorism and extremism,” he said.
He expressed satisfaction that the world had acknowledged that
Pakistan’s overall security situation had significantly improved due
to the ongoing National Action Plan and Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
