Punjab govt decides to grant proprietary rights of land allocated to JK refugees

MIRPUR (AJK), (MILLAT+APP): The government of Punjab has
principally decided to grant proprietary rights of the land property
temporally allotted to the Jammu and Kashmir refugees settled in the
Gujranwala and Rawalpindi divisions.
According to official sources, the Settlement and
Rehabilitation Wing of the Board of Revenue Punjab has directed the
concerned Divisional Commissioners of Gujranwala and Rawalpindi
Divisions where a huge number of the J&K refugees are settled to
complete whole of the process by December 31st this year in all
circumstances as per target fixed by the Chief Minister of Punjab
Shahbaz Sharif, the sources told APP here on Thursday.
The CM Shahbaz Sharif has accorded formal approval for grant
of proprietary right in land temporary allotted to the Jammu &
Kashmir refugees settled in Rawalpindi and Gujranwala divisions
under section (3) of the Evacuee Property and Displaced Persons Laws
(Repeal) Act 1975.
“In pursuance of the approval accorded by the Chief Minister
of Punjab, the Settlement and Rehabilitation Wing of Board of
Revenue Punjab has decided to confer proprietary rights upon the
non-claimant Jammu & Kashmir refugees who had earlier been
temporarily allotted evacuee land for maintenance purpose”, the
sources quoted the directive circulated by the Board of Revenue
Punjab to the Divisional Commissioners as well as the DCOs/ District
Collectors of Sialkot, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Mandi
Bahauddin, Narowal, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum.
“To implement the above decision of granting the proprietary
rights of the evacuee land temporarily allotted to the Jammu and
Kashmir (Non claimant) refugees, settled in Gujranwala and
Rawalpindi divisions the Punjab government has constituted the
Divisional Committee headed by the Commissioner of the concerned
decisions for the conferment of the propriety rights to the J&K
refugees and guidelines TORs, the sources revealed.
According to an official notification the four member
committee in each division /district will be comprising Divisional
Commissioner (concerned) as head with DCO/District Collector of
Concerned district, Representative of the Board of Revenue (Not
below the level of Deputy Secretary) and Assistant Commissioner
(Revenue) Commissioner Office as members of the Committee.
The provincial governments decision about granting the
proprietary rights of the land property to the J & K refugees in two
major divisions of the province has spread a wave of great
jubilation and joy among the refugees.
They have particularly thanked the Prime Minister Muhammad
Nawaz Sharif and the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for taking
such a much-awaited decision in response to the long-cherished
demand by the Jammu & Kashmir Refugees.
