Rabbani for strengthening provincial culture
ISLAMABAD,(millat online):Former Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani Tuesday stressed the need for empowering provinces that in return would guarantee strong federation.
He was addressing the National Conference on “Internal Security: Peace & Sustainable Development,” held here at Pakistan Planning and Management Institute (PPMI).
The former chairman Senate said Pakistan was facing many internal challenges, deploring that “we are not ready to learn from our history and past mistakes.”
He said time had come to shun away political differences and work for democratic stability, stressing the need to work for strengthening democracy.
He said, “We should not make any compromise on the 1973 constitution,” and stand as one nation against terrorism and extremism.
He said the way to lead the country towards progress and stability was to follow the ideology of Quaid-e-Azam, Muhamamd Ali Jinnah in letter and spirit.
He was of the view that promotion of provincial cultures would ultimately ensure a ‘Pakistanism culture” and said adherence to the constitution would enable us to work above the party line, hence help in strengthening the national institutions.
