Return of all TDPs to be completed in 2016; 285,400 returned so far:Governor

PESHAWAR, (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtukhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on
Wednesday said as per the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif the measures are being taken to facilitate and support the temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) from FATA in their resettlement in respective areas.
He was presiding over a high level meeting of FATA disaster Management
Authority (FDMA) here to review the respectable returns of TDPs and the facilities being extended to them.
Director General FDMA Fayyaz Ali Shah while briefing the Governor told
that so far 285,400 TDPs have returned to their native areas in different phases, adding that as many as 114,411 TDP families were facilitated to return to their respective areas during last year.
He further informed that the repatriation process of all TDPs to native
towns would be completed by the end of this year.
The DG said that the repatriation process of 27553 families of Orakzai
agency would be completed by the end of April this year, adding that Rs. 3363 million has also been paid to the affected families on their return as part of assistance package.
He further told that Rs. 10,000 are being paid to the TDPs as part of
journey expenses, while Rs. 25,000 are being paid as cash grant to meet month expenses and the amount would be paid for the six months, he added.
The Governor directed FDMA to ensure provision of all facilities to the
affected families on priority basis and warned that no excuse would be accepted if lethargy or lack of interest is being shown in provision of support to the TDPs.
