SC adjourns power construction company case till July 19

ISLAMABAD, July 13 (APP): The Supreme Court on Wednesday adjourned hearing of the case filed by M/s Power Construction Corporation of
China, seeking a stay order against the bidding process of Water and
Power Development Authority (Wapda) to award contract for the construction of Dasu Dam main civil works of Stage-I of the project.
The two-member apex court bench heard the appeal of M/s Power Construction Corporation of China against the Lahore High Court verdict
in the matter.
During the course of proceedings, counsel for Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) assured the court that the bidding process would not be finalized till next date of hearing.
Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali told Salman Akram Raja, counsel
for the Chinese firm, that since the court did not receive any report
in that regard so it would adjourn the hearing for one week.
Salman Akram Raja, however, expressed reservations that during that period the bidding process could be finalized and this would also effect
the stakes of the his client company.
Shahzada Mazhar, counsel for WAPDA, assured the court that the bidding process would not be finalized till next date of hearing. On which the court adjourned hearing of the case till July 19.
