Shabbir Shah detained for his association with APHC

ISLAMABAD, (APP): All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) has said
that senior resistance leader, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, is being kept under
continued illegal detention for his affiliation with the Hurriyet forum.
The APHC spokesman said that Shabbir Shah’s association with APHC
didn’t go well with the authorities, therefore, he has been kept in police station for last over a month. “His untiring efforts towards uniting pro-freedom groups are other reasons for his detention but the main reason is his affiliation with APHC,” he added, Kashmir Media Service reported.
The spokesman said, whenever the unlawfully detained pro-freedom
leaders approach the courts, the police start cooking up cases against them to keep the leaders in jails. He said that the only option left for the Hurriyet leadership was to register protest but deplored that the protests were also not allowed.
It is to mention here Shabbir Ahmed Shah has spent over 20 years of his
life in different Indian jail for his active role in the ongoing freedom
movement. He was declared as `Prisoner of Conscience’ by the global human
rights watchdog, Amnesty International. Fresh spell of his detention started
on the night of February 24, when he addressed a press conference in Held Srinagar in the capacity of APHC General Secretary. Since then he has been lodged at Rajbagh Police Station. Indian police authorities are not ready to talk about the reasons for his detention.
Shabbir Shah’s jail journey began in 1968, when he was 14 and was
arrested for leading a student demonstration. He has been in and out of jail
or under house arrest ever since.
