ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT ONLINE):Speakers at a seminar here on Monday said that India has created a war-like situation along the Line of Control (LoC) to distract the attention of international community from the Kashmir dispute and hoodwink the world on the gross human rights’ violations it was committing in occupied Kashmir.
They highlighted the importance of utilizing modern media channels, particularly the conventional and social media, for the promotion of Kashmir cause and to highlight the gross human rights violations being committed by Indian occupation forces in occupied Kashmir.
It was observed that India was propagating false narratives with sole purpose to malign the just struggle of Kashmiri people, while the Indian media, instead of following the principles of objective journalism, was propagating official tones while reporting on Kashmir dispute.
The interactive seminar, which was participated by a number of journalists, was organized by Jammu and Kashmir People’s League, a constituent organization of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Azad Kashmir Chapter.
A resolution adopted on the occasion expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people who have been offering tremendous sacrifices for their right to self-determination, said a statement issued here.
The resolution urged the representatives of print and electronic media to play their role in highlighting the sufferings of the Kashmiri people at international level.
The participants called on international community, the United Nations, European Union and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to extend full support to the oppressed Kashmiri people.
The resolution also urged governments of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir to raise Kashmir dispute at all international forums, the statement said, adding, “It also expressed serious concern over the Indian negative policies on the Kashmir resolution.”
The resolution also urged the government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to establish a media cell to regularly monitor Indian media and social media channels and devise strategies for countering the Indian narratives which are being created on farcical basis.
Among others, the electronic and print media journalists who participated in the interactive seminar included Syed Ejaz Rehmani, Syed Samar Abbas, Mohammad Ashraf, Naeem-ul-Asad, Maqsood Manzar Nabi Baig Yunas, Dr Irfan Ashraf, Waseem Abbasi, Mehtab Abbasi, Shehzad Ahmad, Raies Ahmad Mir, Ajmal Kiyani, Nadeer Iqba, Syed Khalid Gurdezi, Kashif Mir, Waseem Ahmad, Waleed Nisar Arshad and Irshad Ahmad.
