HYDERABAD, (APP): In a police case of underage marriage of a
girl with an elderly person, the police submitted the medical report of Husun Bano which establishes her age as 15 years old.
According to the details, the Investigation Officer Tasleem Bhurgari
here Wednesday submitted the medical report in the court after which 3 suspects arrested in the case were sent on judicial remand to the Central Jail for 10 days.
The Husri police arrested 55 years old Mohammed Yousuf Brohi, who was
marrying Bano, on Feb 24 from a village in Husri rural town.
Brohi’s brother Majeed Brohi and the girl’s brother Abbass Brohi were
also arrested and later nominated in the FIR which was lodged on the police complaint.
The 3 suspects and unknown persons were booked in the case which was
filed under the Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act, 2014.
According to the Act an offender who marries an underage child, the
parents and facilitator can be punished with up to 3 years rigorous imprisonment after their conviction in the court of law.
The law makes the offence cognizable, non-bailable and non-compoundable.
