VAWC to be functional from March

MULTAN, Feb 20 (APP): Director General Social Welfare Punjab Waheed
Akhtar Rana said Violence Against Women Centre (VAWC), which was being introduced to resolve issues of aggrieved women, would be completely functional during next month.
The centre would offer facilities and relief to affected women under one
roof, the DG said, adding the centre would be one of the biggest centres in South Asia to address grievances of the affected women.
He was visiting Violence Against Women Centre, situated at Mattital
road, here Monday. He inspected different sections of the building.
DG Waheed Akhtar informed that women staffers would be deputed in the
centre and claimed the Centre will surely help reduce crimes against women.
Director Social Welfare Multan Ghulam Asghar Jilbani and other officers
also briefed the DG about performance of other institutions of the Social Welfare department.
