ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT ONLINE/APP): With the onset of summer
and the mean temperatures moving up, waterborne infections
rising during summer season, especially among children across the
country.
Talking to private news channel Professor Dr Muhammad Ashraf

exhaustion, dehydration and fever has triggered among citizens.
Doctor said that unusually high number of people are coming
in hospitals with these summer-related illnesses.
The most common types of illnesses associated with
increasing temperatures are vomiting and diarrhea, he
mentioned.
Poor hygiene and sanitary conditions, including consuming
impure drinking water and unhygienic food, are two of the biggest
contributory factors that cause water-borne diseases to spread, he
highlighted.
Dr further advised that one needs to take precautions early
so that they are not vulnerable to infection. If children show
symptoms of diarrhoea, parents should promptly give ORS and if it

Simple tips like carrying an umbrella, wearing covered
clothes, avoiding outside food and exposure to sun for long hours,
carrying water bottles can help children lead a healthy summer,

poisoning among children. Children also drink poor quality water
which leads to diarrhoea. Outside food should be strictly avoided
during hot weather,” Dr added.
He also recommended that “It is best that children eat home-
cooked food. Parents should be careful that children wash hands
before eating and maintain a high standard of hygiene otherwise,”
Physician concluded.
