Women, children worst sufferers in IOK, shamim tells UNHRC

ISLAMABAD, (APP): Kashmiri woman representative, Shamim Shawl
has said that the unresolved Kashmir dispute has a wider and deeper impact on all sections of the society particularly women and children in occupied Kashmir.
Shamim Shawl addressing the 31st Session of the United Nations Human
Rights Council in Geneva made a mention of 1991 Kunanposhpora mass rape incident, KMS reported.
She said that the fateful night had changed the lives of the people
forever. “It affects and keeps affecting. This single shameful act of Indian
occupational forces is responsible for every suffering of this village,” she
added.
“People were not allowed to file FIR against army for seven days and
such attitude still persists,” she said.
The sufferings of the women and children in Kashmir need to be
understood with all the dimensions and addressed immediately as it is affecting our whole generation, she said.
Besides, Shamim Shawl pointed out that the impact of conflict was
experienced by people of all ages who suffer displacement, loss of home and
property, loss or disappearances of close relatives, poverty and family
separation and disintegration.
