Slapping PSA on specially-abled person atrocious: Yasin Malik
ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT ONLINE):The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik has termed the slapping of draconian law Public Safety Act (PSA) on a specially disabled person as a glaring example of mental bankruptcy of the puppet rulers.
Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “How can a man who is not able to walk two steps on his feet be implicated in stone pelting cases and sent to jail under PSA,” KMS reported.
Describing the repeated slapping of PSA on Tanveer Ahmed War of Baramulla as a brazen act of hardheartedness of the puppet administration, he said, “On November 27, I was arrested and shifted to Central Jail, Srinagar. In jail, I saw a differently disabled person walking on sticks and thought that he might be in jail for some civil case. I was informed by other inmates that the person was in jail for his affiliation with the freedom movement. After this I met the person who revealed a horrific tale of torture at the hands of forces for the last one year.”
“This person told me that he is by birth a handicapped, as polio had damaged his legs in early childhood. From that time he has not been able to walk even two steps on his foot. He was taken into custody by police on September 21, 2016 on charges of pelting stones on armed forces and police and despite being handicapped he was tortured severely in police custody. After about two months of illegal confinement, he was slapped with PSA and sent to jail,” Yasin Malik said.
The JKLF chairman said that the detainee challenged the PSA in High Court, which quashed his detention and ordered his release. “He was hoping to be released on court orders, but was slapped with another PSA order and shifted to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu from where he has now been shifted to Srinagar Central Jail,” he added.
Yasin Malik appealed to the international human rights organizations to take note of such gruesome acts of human rights abuses perpetrated by the Indian police and troops in occupied Kashmir.
