Solid measures afoot to complete Syedwala bridge on River Ravi

ISLAMABAD, (APP): National Highway Authority is taking
solid measures to complete Syedwala bridge on River Ravi in District
Nankana Sahib which would link Grand Trunk Road (N-5) with Indus
Highway (N-55) by June this year.
An official of NHA told that in the past the project was not accorded
high priority due to lack of funding which resulted in various disputes
between Contractor and NHA. However, the contractor has now started work
after reaching settlement with stakeholders.
Construction activities recommenced in October, 2015 after effort of
NHA.
PSDP allocation of current financial year 2015-16 is Rs.500
million, however, any additional demand will be accommodated through
re-appropriation, he said.
He said that the said bridge will be helpful to link district
Okara with Jaranwala and reduce the distance from 98 km to 74 Km.
The distance from bridge to new proposed Motorway (Lahore to
Karachi) is 14 km and the distance from bridge to existing Motorway
(Faisalabad to Islamabad) is 63 Km.
