Attendance in offices low, Metro closed

ISLAMABAD, (APP): Following the Rasm-e-Chehlum of
Mumtaz Qadri on Sunday, the red zone of the capital was lockked down to
avoid any attempt by religious elements to enter the sensitive area that resulted in thin attendance in public and private offices especially those situated in and around red zone.
Many citizens remained indoors, as attendance remained low in
government and private offices besides schools and colleges. Those trying
to enter in red zone of the city had to contend with long queues and
blockade on the roads.
All the entry points to red zone were closed and a heavy
security forces were deployed on the eatery points.
The commuters, many of them students, government servants and
employees of private sector, had to take a day off as roads to
mainland Islamabad were empty in the absence of the pubic transport.
The attendance was less than usual at government offices
including the National Assembly, Senate and Pakistan Secretariat, a security personnel at a check point said.
The employees residing in adjacent housing societies and
Rawalpindi could not reach offices due to suspension of metro bus
services and other public transport.
