Polling for by-election on vacant Senate seat begins in Punjab Assembly
LAHORE, (MILLAT ONLINE):The polling for Senate’s by-poll
election was underway in the Punjab Assembly building here
on Thursday.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) backed Dr Asad
Ashraf and Dr Zarqa of Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI)
are in the run for the vacant Senate seat.
Punjab Minister for Law, Rana Sanaullah was the first to cast
the vote.
Pakistan Peoples Party and Muslim League-Q had
decided not to take part in the by-election.
As many as 371 lawmakers of PA will cast their vote.The
polling will continue till 4 pm.
The seat had fallen vacant after disqualification of
former PML-N leader Nehal Hashmi after he was convicted of contempt
of court.
