UN envoy for Syria, Astana talks guarantors meet in Geneva
GENEVA, (MILLAT ONLINE)::The UN envoy for Syria Stefan De Mistura met with the representatives of the three guarantors of the Astana peace process for Syria, Iran, Russia and Turkey, The meeting was held in Geneva on Tuesday, IRNA quoted the Turkish Anadolu news agency report.
According to a statement released by the envoy’s office, in the meeting he emphasized the importance of pursuing the final communiqué of Sochi talks and consultation for furthering Geneva talks with a focus on UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
At the meeting, the recent developments in the region and an immediate solution to de-escalation in Syria were discussed, the statement said.
The cases of the missing and imprisoned people in Syria were also discussed.
