PIMS to get new emergency ward by end April

ISLAMABAD, (APP): A new emergency ward and a filter clinic of
Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) would be completed by end of April.
A spokesman of PIMS told APP that the new emergency of the hospital
was 90 percent complete and the ward could be inaugurated by the end this month.
Hundreds of patients get admitted in the emergency unity daily putting
pressure on the meager facilities of the hospital.
State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division
(CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry months back had directed construction of new emergency and reopening of filter clinic after he evaluated the existing emergency centre, which is not spacious enough to cater to the needs of growing number of patients.
The project is going to be completed on a fast track basis with a
feasibility study taking into account all the needs of the patients admitted in the ward with an emergency medical condition.
The new emergency will have all the facilities including CT Scan and
X-ray machines along with other equipment.
According to the sources, emergency patients will be categorised in
three colours of red, green and yellow.
The patients under red category will be admitted to emergency
immediately.
The green category patients will be discharged soon after provision of
first aid.
The patients under yellow category will be sent to wards after their
treatment in the emergency.
Earlier, the emergency ward was to be inaugurated in March.
