ISLAMABAD, (APP): Five people were dead and 18 others in critical condition after swallowing poisonous sweets in Layyah,
Punjab.
According to police sources, the incident took place when a resident of
Chak-105 TDA Umar Hayat brought sweets from a nearby shop located at chowk-111 on the birth of his grandson,reported a private news channel.
After gulping down sweets, five people including three brothers were
died on the spot while 18 others fell unconscious. The deceased brothers have been identified as 20-year-old Irfan, four-year-old Shahbaz and 22-year-old Ramzan.
Three of the 18 victims were also in critical condition and were shifted to Nishtar Hospital in Multan.
On the other hand, two cousins Abdul Ghafoor and Muhammad Ameer were
also died after eating toxic sweets purchased from the same shop.
