Peace brings back tourism to scenic Swat

ISLAMABAD, (APP): Scenic Swat valley is set to regain its lost
image of attractive tourist resort as it is witnessing arrival of large number of visitors following clearance of the area from terrorists activities by the security forces.
As a result of clean up operation, a steady stream of tourist is now
showing interest to visit the valley enhancing commercial activities and thus enhancing business opportunities for the residents,a report aired by a private news channel.
“I was surprised to see such similarities in our cultures. I enjoyed
seeing the beautiful relics which reminded me of the rich Buddhist past this
area enjoys,” said a tourist.
Ramida, another tourist who has visited Pakistan two times but entered
Swat for the first time, said,”When we heard that Swat valley is open to
foreign tourists we came here to see the rich cultural heritage of Buddhism
because I have read about it in different books and magazines”.
Swat is an ideal holiday spot for Buddhist tourism. This is where the
first Buddhist university was established. Budha stayed here and preached to
the people of this valley, tourist added.
Swat has 25 archeological sites that interest history lovers. It has
ice-cold gushing rivers and the White Palace which was carved out of the same marble as the Taj Mahal.
