ISLAMABAD, (APP): The Election Commission of Pakistan
(ECP) has conferred the powers of first class magistrate to district
returning officers and returning officers for conducting the bye-
election in PK-08 Peshawar VIII on May 12, 2016.
According to a notification issued here, the officers will exercise
the powers of Magistrate First Class till consolidation and announcement of official results of the constituency in respect of offences punishable under sections of the Representation of People Act 1976.
The officers will take cognizance of any such offence under any of the
clauses of sub-section (1) of section 190 of the said code of the criminal procedure and try such an offence in a summary way in accordance with the provisions of the aforesaid Code relating to summary trial.
