PA adopts Senior Citizen Welfare Bill

KARACHI, April 29 (APP): Provincial Assembly of Sindh (PA) Friday
unanimously adopted the Sindh Senior Citizen Welfare Bill 2014.
The bill was laid by MQM MPA Syed Khalid Ahmed in the house which was
later adopted unanimously.
The bill envisages 50 per cent discounts to senior citizens on
transport fares, 25 per cent cut on recreation activities and 20 per cent less on goods and other items.
Speaking on the bill Ahmed said that the Sindh Assembly is the only one
that passed senior citizen bill to help facilitate senior citizens.
“The senior citizens are very important for us and whatever we
have, it is because of prayers of seniors and parents,” he remarked.
The bill would help government in devising mechanism for senior
citizens, Ahmed said.
Senior Minister for Education and Parliamentary Affairs, Nisar Ahmed
Khuhro said that Sindh Assembly was ahead of all provincial assemblies in the country by adopting various bills for welfare of the masses.
This is another positive step for supporting and helping the senior
citizens in the province, he added.
PA also adopted the Sindh Employees’ Old-Age Benefits (Amendments)
Bill, 2016.
