LHC declines request to stay ban on screening of film ‘Maalik’

LAHORE, April 29 (APP): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on
Friday, declining a request to stay the ban on screening of
film “Maalik”, issued notices to the concerned for May 17.
Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza passed the order while
hearing a petition challenging the ban on the screening of
the film, filed by Mehboob Alam.
Earlier, the petitioner submitted that the film was
against corruption as well as entertaining.
The film neither have any content against the Islamic
injunctions nor the country, the petitioner maintained and
added it had been passed by the censor board.
He pleaded to set aside the ban and issue a stay order
till the final decision on the main petition.
However, the court declined the request to stay the ban
and issued notices to the respondents for May 17, and sought a
reply.
