2 billion trees to be planted under Green Pakistan Programme

ISLAMABAD, (APP): Ministry of Climate Change is working
on enhanced new target of planting 2 billion trees under Green
Pakistan Programme in consultation with provinces and regions.
The Prime Minister has launched ” Green Pakistan Programme” on
4th March, 2016 to cope with environment challenges.
The Ministry of Climate Change has sent the case to the
Management Services Wing of Establishment Division for conducting
the management study of Zoological Survey of Pakistan (ZSP) and
defunct National Council for Conservation of Wildlife (NCCW).
According to Climate Ministry a concept paper has been
developed for the preparation of PC-I on “State of Forestry Report”
by using latest techniques in consultation with Ministry of Science
and Technology and provincial forest departments.
Concept paper for clearance of Planning Commission has been
developed on `Reclamation and Development of Forest Areas’
originally for plantation of 100 million plants over the next five
years throughout Pakistan.
Consultation has been held with the Public and Private
corporate sector representatives regarding development of long-term
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) plan and Public Private
Partnership to encourage them for tree planting.
