660 Malaria Microscopy Centers set up in Balochistan

QUETTA,(APP): The Head of Malaria Control Programme
Balochistan, Dr. Kamalan Gichki has said that 660 Malaria Microscopy
Centers have been set up across the province to diagnose and
control the fatal disease.
In his statement issued, here on Thursday, he said that the
provincial government has designed a strategic plan to control malaria
in all districts of the province by carrying out anti-Malaria spray
and providing people with necessary medicines.
“Around 660 microscopy centers have been set up in all districts of
Balochistan to diagnose and control the disease,” he said, adding that a Malaria Reference Laboratory was also set up in Quetta to further
confirm the reports of the microscopy centers.
He said that under Malaria Control Programme, anti-Malaria spray
campaigns were launched in several districts of the province where
people were also being given anti-mosquito nets and medicines. He
underlined the need to raise public awareness among masses about the
deadly disease.
He said that presently, 21 districts of Balochistan were affected by the
disease as Malaria was reported there; adding that however, the doctors and paramedics at state-run hospitals and health centers were being given professional medical training to treat the disease.
He said that Malaria Information System was also being introduced across
Balochistan to collect montly data of patients suffering from the disease.
