Pakistan beat India 1-0 to claim hockey gold in SAG

ISLAMABAD, Feb 12 (APP): Pakistan continued their supremacy in men’s hockey in the region as they defeated historical rivals India 1-0 in the summit clash to clinch gold in the 12th South Asian Games (SAG) at the Moullana Tayabullah Hockey Stadium Guwahati, India on Friday.
According to information received here, Awais-ur-Rehman scored the lone goal of the match in dying moments of the first half as Pakistan clinched a hat-trick of titles in the SAG.
Pakistan had won the hockey gold in 2006 and 2010 editions by beating India in the final on both occasions.
Pakistan who had also defeated India 2-1 in the group stage of the ongoing Games, completely dominated the first half, leading 1-0.
Although they failed to score any other goal in the second half, they dominated for most part of the match.
