ISLAMABAD, (APP): Indian police in occupied Kashmir is keeping a
close watch on the religious scholars across the Kashmir Valley after they
were jointly requested by top Hurriyet leadership to raise Kashmir and
Palestine disputes in their Friday congregations on coming Jumat-ul-Waida.
Reports said that the puppet administration had asked the police to
monitor the activities of all Imams and religious preachers in their
respective areas and register their profile and attendance with area police
regularly, Kashmir Media Service reported.
A senior official told media that the Central Investigation Department
(CID) officials have been directed to document the activities of the clerics
in and outside the mosques.
“Recently, the Additional Director General (ADG) CID, S M Sahai held a
high-level meeting of the department officials and directed them to start the profiling of clerics in their respective areas.
He also directed the officials to monitor their activities inside
Masjids and other religious places. They have also been asked to confirm their political and other affiliations,” the official said.
“This is the first phase of profiling. In the second phase, the
authorities are planning to secure photos of these imams and ulemas to
identify them and check their activities and movements,” the police official
added.
All SHOs and SDPOs have been directed to take steps to curb pro-freedom
and anti-regime activities of Imams.
