Women warned off purchasing sub standard Henna

ISLAMABAD, (APP): Women and young girls are warned of buying sub standard Henna from vendor stalls to save their skin from any reaction.
Henna is considered an essential item for women to complete
their Eid preparations especially at Eid ul Fitr its sale reaches its peak and every one seems in hurry to grab ready to apply Henna commmonly known as `Cone Mendhi’.
Vendors usually bought sub standard Henna offering it at cheaper rates than shop keepers but a number of complains have received of its reaction on human skin.
Sara Shahid, a teen age girl told APP that last year her sister bought Henna from a vendor on Chaand Raat and when they applied it on their hands, they turned red and itching started.
“Me and my sister immediately washed our hands but the reaction was so strong that despite applying ointment the irritation continued for three days”.
Shazia Amin a beautician running a beauty parlour at Khayaban a Sir Syed said, “Girls should be very conscious while purchasing Henna and check it before buying”.
The sub standard Henna started itching immediately after applying and gives an uncomfortable feelings, she told APP adding, don’t get any such kind Henna to keep themselves safe from harmful affects”.
She said `cone mendhi’ is manufactured at local small factories and people use sub standard chemicals in different quantity which cause reaction.
“People preparing this Henna are not trained so they exceed the chemical quantity or other things which results in reaction”.
She stated that there is no odour in the Henna available in
market and its just `emergency Mendhi’ which has no soothing affect
but people buy it because it give color in very short time.
She further informed that there is also another artificial
method of preparing this Henna. Few manufactures just use `Gurr and
black tea’ and steam it for some time to prepare it and fill it in
cone through syringes.
This is very cost effective method as no original Henna is
used in it, she said adding, few other methods are also used
to reduce cost of production without analyzing how harmful effects
they have on human skin.
She further said that she bought Henna in bulks due to rush on
Eid but she buy it from few specific shops asking by name good
brands.
Eid is an occasion of happiness and people want to do special
arrangements to look elegant but contaminators ruined their joy with
such practices just to get some extra money.
She urged the concerned authorities to take action against
such Henna manufacturers for ensuring only quality product in
market.
