SC dismisses plea seeking stay on opening of tender for construction of Dasu Dam

ISLAMABAD, July 11 (APP): The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed
a plea seeking stay orders for opening of tender for the
construction of Dasu Dam.
The court also directed the Ministry of Water and Power to
submit reply over keeping away China Power Construction Company
from bidding of the tender.
The court also directed to place the copy of a Lahore High
Court verdict regarding bidding process on court record.
The apex court bench comprising Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali
and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed heard the case.
It may be mentioned that the Ministry of Water and Power had issued
international tenders for the construction of Dasu Dam. China Power Construction Company and two other Chinese companies were shortlisted
for the bidding process.
Later, on the LHC orders the China Power Construction Company was
not allowed to take part in the bidding process.
The China Power Construction Company filed a petition against
LHC orders in the Supreme Court.
During the course of proceedings, its counsel Salman Akram Raja
told the court that the ministry could not stay any company from
the bidding on the dictation of World Bank as every country had its
own rules.
Later, the court sought reply from the Ministry of Water and Power
and adjourned hearing till Wednesday (July 13).
