River Indus, Kabul flowing in low flood: FFC

ISLAMABAD, Jul 19 (APP): River Indus in “Tarbela- Kalabagh”,
“Kalabagh – Chashma” and “Chashma – Taunsa” Reaches and River Kabul
at Nowshera are flowing in Low Flood.
Other main rivers i.e. River Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej
are flowing normal, said daily Federal Flood Commission (FFC)
report.
Actual river flows and reservoir elevations on Tuesday
indicates that Tarbela and Mangla reservoirs are at elevations of
1517.87 feet and 1225.85 feet respectively.
These reservoirs are 32.13 feet and 16.15 feet below their
respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1550.00 feet and 1242.00
feet.
Today’s combined live storage capacity of Tarbela, Chashma and
Mangla reservoirs is 10.839 MAF as compared to last year’s 11.727
MAF.
According to Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, yesterday’s
trough of Westerly Wave over Kashmir and adjoining areas has moved
away Eastwards.
Marked Seasonal Low continues to prevail over Northern
Balochistan. The weather system is being closely monitored by the
Pakistan Meteorological Department.
As predicted by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, mainly
dry weather is expected over most parts of the country during the
next 24 hours.
However, isolated thunderstorm/rain may occur over the upper
catchments of all the major rivers including Kashmir, Rawalpindi,
Gujranwala, Lahore and D.G Khan Divisions during the same period.
Medium level flows are expected in the hill torrents of D.G
Khan and Rajanpur Districts during the next 24 hours.
Significant rainfall events as reported by the Flood
Forecasting Division, Lahore during the past 24 hours include;
Parachinar = 50 mm, Marala = 29 mm, Kotli = 15 mm, D.G.Khan
(Mari = 15 mm and Fort Minro = 07 mm), Balakot and Okara = 14 mm
each and Bagrote = 10 mm.
All concerned are being kept informed by the Flood Warning
Center, Lahore on round the clock basis.
