LAHORE, (APP): The Lahore High Court on Tuesday
issued notices for September 20 to federal government,
Election Commission of Pakistan and others on a petition
seeking directions to cancel Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)
registration as a political party.
LHC Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah issued notices on
a petition filed by Advocate Sardar Aftab Virk.
During the hearing, the petitioner-counsel submitted that
it was mandatory for every political party to be patriotic.
He contended that the MQM was not a patriotic party. “MQM
chief Altaf Hussain was involved in anti-Pakistan activities
and he delivered speeches against the country”, he added.
The petitioner requested the court to issue directions
for cancellation of MQM registration as a political party.
The court after recording arguments issued notices for
September 20 to federal government, Election Commission of
Pakistan and others and sought reply.
