Tokyo stocks close higher on weak yen, oil rebound

TOKYO, (APP/AFP) – Tokyo stocks shrugged off early losses to close higher on Monday as a weakening yen lifted exporters and sentiment received a boost from a rebound in oil prices.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 0.90
percent, or 143.88 points, to finish at 16,111.05, while the broader Topix
index of all first-section shares rose 0.63 percent, or 8.18 points, to
1,300.00.
