Shanghai stocks close higher

SHANGHAI, Oct 21, (APP/AFP) – Shanghai stocks closed slightly higher on Friday, helped by buying of infrastructure-related shares, dealers said. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.21 percent, or 6.48 points, to 3,090.94 on turnover of 202.0 billion yuan ($29.9 billion). It gained 0.89 percent for the week. But the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, lost 0.38 percent, or 7.83 points, to 2,052.56 on turnover of 304.1 billion yuan. It added 0.28 percent over the week. Hong Kong markets were closed as Typhoon Haima lashed the city.
