PAC recommends PIA to devise proper mechanism for reducing loses

ISLAMABAD, Oct 25 (APP): The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Tuesday recommended Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to devise proper mechanism for reducing loses. The committee met here at Parliament House in chair of Khursheed Shah, chairman PAC. The meeting attended by MNAs including Raja Muhammad Javed Ikhlas, Dr.Darshan, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, Rana Afzal Hussain, Abdul Rashid Godil, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Sardar Ashiq Hussain Gopang, Ch. Pervez Ilahi and Mian Abdul Mannan. The committee expressed concerns over the financial loses and decided to conduct meeting on monthly basis with the officials of PIA. The Public Accounts Committee said that the loses can be reduced by evolving proper mechanism and strategy. The committee stressed the need for induction of more aircraft to enhance quality of air travel. Earlier, Senior officials of PIA briefed the committee about the over all performance of the national Airline. The committee was informed that PIA is facing a lose due to number of factors including competition. They said that five ways strategy devised for enhancing revenues including fleet expansion, route rationalization, network expansion, code share and system automation.
