Globally famed green eyed Afghan woman arrested over possessing fake ID card

PESHAWAR, Oct 26 (APP): The green-eyed ‘Afghan girl’, who shot to global fame when a 1985 issue of National Geographic magazine published a haunting picture of her on its cover, was arrested in Peshawar on Wednesday for possessing fake CNIC. FIA authorities confirming her arrest to APP said Sharbat Gula was arrested from the Nothia area of Peshawar cantonment for illegally possessing a Pakistani ID card. Gula also dubbed as ‘Moonalisa’ had migrated to Pakistan after situation in Afghanistan became threatening for her family and married to a Pakistani man.
