Arrest of Shabbir Shah termed authorities’ frustration

ISLAMABAD, (APP): The Secretary General of Jammu and Kashmir
Democratic Freedom Party, Maulana Abdullah Tari, has condemned the arrest of
the party Chairman, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, terming it frustration of the
authorities.
Maulana Abdullah Tari in a statement issued in Srinagar, appealed to
the Kashmiri people to follow the protest and shutdown call on Saturday given by the All Parties Hurriyet Conference,reported Kashmir Media Service.
Condemning the arrest of Hurriyet leaders, he said, “To sabotage the
protest programme against the crackdown on JNU and Kashmiri students, illegal detention and sedition charges on SAR Gilani and JNU students, the so-called authorities started crackdown on the Hurriyet leadership and arrested them during nocturnal raids.”
He said that even the district presidents and activists across the
Valley were arrested and the searches were going on. Among those arrested
include Muhammad Amin, Sheikh Zameer, Bashir Ahmad and dozens others.
He said that such acts could not break the resolve of Hurriyet leaders
and the freedom struggle would continue till it reached its logical
conclusion.
Criticizing the authorities for house detention of Nayeem Ahmed Khan,
Ayaz Akbar, Muhammad Ashraf Laya, Peer Saifullah and others, Maulana Tari
termed the action as state terrorism.
Tari said that Hurriyet leaders including Yasmeen Raja, Bilal Sidiqui,
Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar, Molvi Bashir Ahmad, Muhammad Ramzan Khan, Riyaz Ahmad,
Arshid Ahmad and others were detained by police at Pampore when they were on
way to offer funeral prayers in absentia for the three Mujahideen who embraced the martyrdom during a clash with Indian troops in the area.
