Stephanie highlights SDC’s role in alleviation of poverty in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT+APP): Country Director of Swiss Agency
for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in Pakistan Stephanie Burri
has said that SDC has effectively worked together with the
Pakistani government to alleviate poverty.
In an interview with Radio Pakistan, she said that SDC has
actively played its role in providing basic necessities of life to
the people of Pakistan.
Stephanie Burri said reconstruction and rehabilitation of
schools in Swat was a gigantic task, which SDC completed
efficiently.
She said micro hydel projects have been initiated in Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa and FATA for the provision of clean drinking water and
electricity.
Speaking on the occasion, Director UN Information Center
Vittorio Cammarota also said that main hurdle in Pakistan is not
lack of food, but access to the quality food.
He emphasized that empowerment of the youth in the country
to achieve all the Sustainable Development Goals.
He said students of five universities in Pakistan have
prepared sculptures on the theme of zero hunger and twenty-three
have been selected, which will be displayed in an exhibition in
Islamabad next week.
He said information plays key role in overall development of
a country.
